The Ontario Government has established a School Food and Beverage Policy - Ontario Nutrition Standards for schools which provides guidelines about the type of food that can be sold or given to kids by our school, while at school.  The policy does not have any impact on the food that you send with your child for their lunch or snack.  The place we will most likely notice the impacts of the policy will be on our hot lunch program.  Stated simply, the foods that are served or sold at school must not exceed certain salt, fat and sugar levels. More information on the policy as well as the Healthy School Initiative can be obtained at the following website... www.ocdsb.ca/Pages/DistrictNews_HealthySchools2020initiative.aspx

Bake It Up! includes over 20 recipes for healthier baked goods that comply with the Ministry of Education’s School Food and Beverage Policy. It can be used by parents, students, school councils, community volunteers and school staff for making baked goods to be sold in schools.
